Rod Binding-epoxy covering

I'm rebinding an old ugly stick that had its tip broken off and am at the stage of covering the bindings. I would like to use a two part epoxy. Are the two part epoxys available from hardware stores suitable for fishing rods and what brand most suitable to use? Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

Go to your local tackle store n get what they stock mate . That particular stuff has been developed especially for that purpose n most brands they stock nowadays is quite good.
Just a word of advice n that is ta make sure ya pick a nice sunny day for the job and no humidity or moisture in the air. Mix the stuff THOROUGHLY, let sit for a min of five min, mix once more( n let sit again) as this helps lift air bubbles out of the mixture.
Have a good squizz into the stuff n if looks nice n bubble free ;), your ready ta start spreading.
Try get n empty plastic insulation tape container offa one of your leccy mates and mix in that(it'lkl be free ey).
The flat bottom of the container and its width will allow the resin ta spread out n vent the air bubbles better.
Bit of masking tape either side of your guides whilst spreadin the stuff gives a nice even finish to the resin but make sure ya take the stuff off nice n early after yourve spread your resin, that way the resin doesnt look like its been squared off at the ends lol n tapers off nicely onto the blank if ya know what i mean.
Forgot anything???, give me a hoy if ya need morre :).
Another little hint is to let the resin sit on its own in the sun for a tad ta warm a little, this helps with the mixing but speeds up the drying so just a thought for ya.

I have been using a product called envirotec. It is a high gloss 2 part expoxy sold at Bunnings for $20/ 250ml.
This stuff flows better than the others, and finishes to a very clear finish. I, and other rod builders in Vic have been using this for years now with great results.
